Ally, My HP 520 Notebook

May 20, 2008

I just bought a 5-month old laptop i found at bongthom.com (which as of the posting is DOWN and unavailable). It’s a very popular portal here in Cambodia with packed information about the country. Jobs, Classifieds, Maps, Restaurants, Tourist Guide, Places To Stay. etc. Anyway, it’s been a week that I’m bongthom’ing the “classified” page for nothing. Jobs, IT/Computer and General are my favorite. Until last night, there’s this “Hewlett Packard Laptop for sale $300″ posting which i contacted immediately as i’ve thought is a best buy. Luckily and coincidently he’s Filipino, Born Again Christian - and living in Cavite as well (Dasmarinas that is). Small world huh? :-) Thanks to  Mr. Jun G. , I again have my own laptop to play and mess around with.

Ally, My HP 520 Notebook

It’s an HP 520 Notebook. I named it Ally, Maggie’s sister. Yes, i named my PSP Slim Maggie :P. MAGGIE , ALLY - Does it ring a bell ? haha… I got the name from my current company Mag Alliance.

It may not be a power-pc on the go like those 1k$ worth laptop we’ve been drooling for, but this one’s not bad for a base laptop to upgrade. Productivity-wise, it will sure help me a lot ;-)

If there’s something i did not do that i should have done before is this - BLOGGING about IT! (Yeah, the laptop).

You never know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone. When i lost bench (that’s my 2-week old Acer laptop which was stolen 45 minutes after i arrived Ho Chi Minh late July last year) only then than i realized its presence. Not that i take her for granted, but it was only that instance that i realized that i could have spent more time with it, and not just USING it. It may sound weird but yes, I kinda exploited Bench that time. When i was still in Cavite, almost EVERY little thing I buy, received, eat, picked, etc. I BLOGGED about it. Key chain, post card, gift wrapper, anything. But with Bench, that ACER thing - she received NONE. No photo nor a blog entry.

There you have it, my short and sweet welcome to Ally. It may not keep this laptop 100% safe from those crooked burglars, but with prayers and this post - it could at least give a good omen :D

my sincere thank you on my 26th birthday

May 15, 2008

For almost 5 years, It’s been a ‘ritual’ that I celebrate my birthday, together with my family and closest friends on my dad’s folks at Lucban, Quezon since its also the province’s prestigious Pahiyas Festival (in honor of the the patron saint San Isidro Labrador.)

Not until today that I’m celebrating it abroad - with my newfound Phnom Penh family (celebrating it along with the Country’s King Norodom Sihamoni,56). It feels good to have a second family like the one I have in the office. Even with all the language and culture gap, they have been very supportive, sweet, nice and very thoughtful! I got more presents than my director who celebrated her birthday month ago haha!

Anyway, Id just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone ON and OFF-line for all your well wishes and greetings. Bloggers, friendsters, yahoo messengers, twitters, etc… To my folks friends in Philippines, my dad, tita and my lola. My batch mates, project partners jeff and ramsey, My partner-for-life joyce and aaron for being with me 24hrs. To my mom and my sister who traveled all the way from Phils., to my brother, my sister inlaw-kuno nina, to my cousin ate manel and partner mheanne, almost-brother jojo, bigboy, jean and and almost-sister franco and romyr, to roma and family, to mel and family who didnt made it to the ‘party’, to Mr. G for that very touching toast, to olive for that cute lil e-card, to my Khmer brothers and sisters — Kharen, Sorya, Deth, Phally, Vicheka, Udom and Chamraeun. To all the tuktuks that drives us safe. To everyone i forgot, that doesn’t mean you’re not in the heart :)

You’ll all be a big part of me and i will always live with it until the day i grow old.

Thank You and God Bless you all!

(oh yes, pictures to follow)

Transaction failed because has no funding sources (10210)

May 14, 2008

Yesterday and today from my transaction with GoDaddy :

  • Transaction failed because has no funding sources (10210)
  • There was a problem authorizing your credit. Please verify your payment information or use an alternate form of payment.

I initially thought that there’s got to be a problem with Paypal-GoDaddy or my VISA Eon card run out of fund. Just an assumption though.

Then today i tried again and the same. So i tried using paypal straight and here’s what i get :

This payment cannot be completed because your credit card has been denied by your credit card issuer. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer’s customer service department. You may want to try using a different credit card or choose eCheck instead. To do this, please click the More Payment Options link.

So i emailed my debit card issuer (Unionbankph.com) and for just a couple of minute, they replied that theres nothing wrong with my account and the problem roots with their VISA and POS Transactions.
